Conscious Box - June 2013

Conscious Box has been a great way for me to discover new eco-friendly and organic items. June did not disappoint.

The thank you not is printed on paper made from bamboo in a wind powered facility. How cool is that?! And it's always good to have a nice thank you card on hand. I've had the Natural Calm mix in boxes before. I've been taking a magnesium supplement as of late and just ran out so this will buy me a day. And it also has calcium which I'm supposed to be taking. The Joint Mud from Greek Island labs has quite a list of ingredients but they look like mostly essential oils (I haven't read the list closely yet.) This will come in handy soon I'm sure. All this humidity is bound to wake up some knee pain. They do tell you to immediately wash your hands or wear latex gloves when using it, which makes me a little nervous...

I'm already familiar with Earth Friendly Products but always welcome one of their samples. This lemon grass hand soap is no exception. It has a nice light lemon scent and doesn't dry out my hands. I had hope for the Sneakz Organic Yummy Veggie Nutrition Milkshake. Any way I can sneak a veggie into my daughters diet is one I'll try. The problem is she's not a fan of chocolate milk. I tried it and it was pretty good. It did have a slight veggie taste to it so I'm not sure it would fool anyone.

Organic Flavrz Superfruit Sport All Natural Liquid Drink Mix Revive and Boost - These mix into a water bottle and have a nice fruity flavor. These are not nearly as sweet as most energy drinks.

LARABAR Alt Peanut Butter Cookie Fruit and Nut Bar - I'm always up for trying a new energy bar and especially one with peanut butter. I gave the Buddy Wash to my mother in law for their mini schnauzer who loves to investigate the back yard especially when it's wet. I'm sure it will get used soon! Son for Men is an aftershave skin soother. It's organic and vegan!

More snack bars! These Skout bars are almost the perfect calorie count for a mid morning snack. And cherry vanilla and apple cinnamon are great flavor choices for me.

This is the Molly Muriel soap. It's an exfoliant with a great bunch of oils and charcoal. On the opposite side is a shampoo bar made with murumuru butter, coconut, jojoba, and sweet almond. They are all made in small batches.
Conscious Box always includes a post card in the box. I just particularly liked this one.

Conscious box had another hit for me with this box. There were some repeats but most were new fun things to try. Worth the $19.95.

Conscious Box - April 2013

This post is WAY late. I thought I had done it weeks ago! Oops.
This box is the last of the three month deal I got from Living Social... Or was it Plum District? Sorry I can never keep all those flash sale sites straight. I'm kind of sad to see it go but at a regular price of $19.99 it's a little out of my price range right now. But we'll see...

I love these Earth Friendly Products. And with all these subscription boxes I haven't had to buy laundry detergent for quite a while! This one has a mild scent. I only wish there was an easy way to measure it out.

I've tried a few types of "added greens" over the last few years, so I'll give this one a try. It looks like the ones they sell on the Conscious box site are in capsule form. I would have preferred that. Part of the reason I end up not using the greens is I can never find the right liquid to mix them in. Water seems weird and I don't drink much juice.

I guess they know I like to get me greens since I also got a sample of Earthrise Spirulina. The silver package is chocolate covered greens! I admit it was pretty good but I don't know if I'd pay around $3 a bar for these (which is the price I've seen around the web.) It certainly eliminates the need to mix the greens into a liquid! Speaking of easy to take the Q Speed fast melt CoQ10 is great for that. Another supplement I keep hearing I should be taking. So it's worth a shot.

I have liked every 7th Generation product I've ever tried, these face wipes were no exception. I only wish there was more! Nice light orange scent. The totlogic lotion was great! There was enough that my daughter and my husband also tried it. Nice smooth feel and a very light scent. No reason an adult couldn't use this.

This Nurtureme product is genius. You can reconstitute the powder to make your traditional baby food like product or you can use the powder as is to sprinkle over the food you can get your toddler to eat. I know some people think it's bad to "sneak" in veggies but I think it just gives an extra boost. I still try to get her to eat veggies but in the mean time I'll give this a shot.

The whey product is a powder to mix into water. I haven't had a chance to try it yet because I only occasionally use a mix for a meal replacement. I can't say anything bad about Celestial Seasonings! This is another yummy tea.

This lip balm deserved a close up. The container reminds me of all those lip balms I had as a kid in the 70s. And it works great! It's not at all sticky but stays on your lips for a few hours. And no weird taste.

I was skeptical of this Coromega Omega 3 squeeze. So many omega 3s have a fishy taste and this one was supposed to be pineapple orange. And it's a gel in a packet about the size of fast food ketchup packet. I took a deep breath and squeeze it in my mouth. Imagine my happy surprise when it tasted fruity and nothing else! No weird after taste, and no revisiting the taste later. This is a great supplement, I'll be looking in to getting more.

I still don't know if the value of the box adds up to the 20 bucks each month but it is fun to try so many natural and organic ingredients.

Conscious Box - March 2013

I really like Conscious Box! I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep this subscription every month with so many to pick from, but it's definitely towards the top of my list. This box is 19.99 a month including shipping and most of the items are deluxe sample size eco-friendly items. I have to say this is the best variety of items in any subscription box I've tried. But on to March!

I haven't had a chance to try the Wheatgrass Boost but it's a single serving and the bottle has D intrigued :-) She insisted on holding it for the picture.

I've tried plenty of cereal/snack/breakfast bars and this Cherry Almond bar by Two Degrees might be the best yet (or tied with Pure Organics Cherry Cashew.)

I am now obsessed with finding tea made with Cacao shells! This herbal tea by Stash is amazing. The flavor reminds me of those chocolate oranges but so much better. I really liked the Nektar Honey crystals. What a great way to be able to add honey to your tea. I used it in place of sugar when I made myself a chai latte the other day. Perfect!

This Sumsoap smells wonderful. I haven't used it yet because I have quite the collection of little soaps right now but it has a nice feel to it in bar form. I'm not sure what to make of this TGRT tea. It took me a while to figure out what it was. LOL It says it's great to add to a bath or to drink. Hmmm... It is a cool package though.

D is a picky eater and I keep thinking I should get her a vitamin. But then how to get her to swallow it. This might be the answer. It helped that I tried the adult version at the same time but she ate these without a problem - and she liked them! They taste very similar to gummy bears but a little less sweet.

This is brilliant. I don't have an iphone but my android phone fits just fine. Now if only I could get some for my Kindle Fire. The phone fits in to the bag, which then seals with a sticky strip. It did a pretty good job of keeping the phone clean. I didn't spill any liquids on it so I don't know how well it would protect in that case.

I love the idea of this natural cough syrup. It's not much more than honey. I haven't tried it yet but I'm saving it for the next scratchy throat that comes.

I think this box is a pretty good value. And it's introduced me to some great new eco-friendly brands.
